If Not Now, When?

Purpose Begins When You Say Yes.

Start small. Start nervous.
Start without all the answers.
Just start.

There is a quiet question that often echoes in our hearts during seasons of hesitation, transition, and uncertainty: “If not now, when?”
It’s the kind of question that nudges us out of comfort, confronts our delays, and calls us into purpose. Most of us don’t struggle with knowing what to do—our challenge is often finding the courage or clarity to actuallystart. We wait for the perfect conditions. We wait for more confirmation. We wait until we “feel ready.”

Yet Scripture gently reminds us that faith rarely waits on perfect conditions—it creates them.

The Power of Today

“Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.”

Ecclesiastes 11:4

If we wait until everything is ideal, we may never begin. The enemy of progress is not opposition—it’s hesitation. God often moves when we decide to move. He parts the waters after the priests step in the river (Joshua 3:15–16). He multiplies the oil after the widow gathers the jars (2 Kings 4:3–6).

Your “now” may not feel convenient. But it might be divine.

Delayed Obedience = Delayed Breakthrough = Disobedience

Esther’s defining moment came wrapped in a question:

“And who knows whether you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

Esther 4:14

Her courage in the now became deliverance for an entire nation. Her nation was saved because she did not delay action. She approached the king boldly and requested that the Jews should not be killed.

Some breakthroughs are waiting on your “yes.”

And Moses said to Pharaoh, “Accept the honor of saying when I shall intercede for you, for your servants, and for your people, to destroy the frogs from you and your houses, that they may remain in the river only.” So he said, “Tomorrow.” And he said, “Let it be according to your word, that you may know that there is no one like the LORD our God.”

Exodus 8:9-10

Delaying action is irrational. I marvel every time I read the story of Pharaoh and the children of Israel. There was a time when the plague of frogs was sent to Egypt. Frogs were everywhere – in their beds, bathroom, food, kitchen, floors, everywhere! It was disgusting and scary. Pharaoh sent for Moses and asked him to pray for the frogs to go away. You would have imagined that he wanted the frogs gone immediately. To my dismay, when Moses asked Pharaoh to set a time to remove the plague of frogs, Pharaoh replied, “Tomorrow“. Moses honored this request and all the Egyptians lived with the frogs for one more night! Pharaoh allowed the frogs to remain for one more night before dying.

What in the world is that?! Why would anyone want to live with frogs for one more night? Why endure when you can act immediately?

Are you putting up with frogs in your life for one more night? You know that you need to get rid of the frogs but you would rather endure them for one more night rather than taking action now

The Grace of Starting Small

Zechariah 4:10 encourages us:

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”

What small beginning is God inviting you to embrace today? Make the move and start moving.

I Encourage You to Take Your Next Step Today

You don’t need the full blueprint—just enough light for the next step.
You don’t need all the confidence—just enough courage to begin.

God is not asking you to have it all figured out. He’s asking you to trust Him as you move.

So, if not now, when?
Not tomorrow.
Not later.
Not eventually.

Today.

Because purpose begins with your willingness to start. Make today a masterpiece by making the move. Start.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the strength, purpose, and calling You have placed within me. Today, I ask for the courage to move forward in faith—despite uncertainty, despite fear, and despite imperfect conditions. Rekindle boldness in my spirit. Remind me that You go before me, You walk with me, and You sustain me.

Open my eyes to the opportunities You’ve placed in front of me and silence every voice of doubt that keeps me stagnant. Teach me to trust Your timing, respond to Your prompting, and step into the purpose You’ve designed for “such a time as this.”

Lord, help me to begin—faithfully, humbly, and confidently—knowing that You will guide every step. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a fulfilling week.
