Watching the movie Karate Kid this weekend (for the nth time!), I heard Jackie Chan say something profound: “Being still is not the same as doing nothing”. That statement kept echoing in my head and led me to the scripture in Psalm 46:10:
“Be still, and know that I am God! “
It is so easy to get caught up on the wrong side of expectation, where there is a constant yearning for the next thing and we postpone “living” until we get that miracle – the dream job, the spouse, the car, the healing, the child… that special thing that will make life better.
However today is the day the Lord has made and we should rejoice and be glad in it. Waiting on God is not about enduring today while waiting for tomorrow to come. Being still in God means embracing and enjoying each day while expecting the fulfillment of His promises. God is El shaddai– the all sufficient God, and there is nothing impossible for Him to do.
Being still means you can thoroughly enjoy today while waiting on God for an amazing future!
Do not live on tip toes, stretching and yearning for the day and time when every need is met and life becomes perfect. Do not waste today thinking about tomorrow. Stop peeking and longing for tomorrow while today slips away. Do not ignore the beauty of today and the treasures of your journey, embrace the beauty of today.
Your joy is the proof that you trust God and you believe that He will do what He said He would do.
Life is a win-win for you! You can maximize today and still step into the perfection of a glorious tomorrow. Do not let the devil steal today with worries about tomorrow. God is in control of your days and your dreams will become reality. Enjoy today and trust God with tomorrow.
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7
Have an amazing week!
