Your breakthrough is in your obedience.
There was once a widow in the bible who worked hard to sustain herself and her son during the famine. She did all she knew to do but times were hard. Her supplies dwindled till she only had a handful of flour in a bin and a little oil. All she could afford was one last meal for herself and her son and then they would die of starvation.
The widow was in a very helpless situation and sought desperately for help. She contacted everyone she knew but she could not get help because the famine was severe. She cried out to God for help and kept hoping for a miracle but gradually her flour and oil ran out! The reality of her situation was agonizingly painful as she gathered sticks to prepare her last meal.
In another part of the city, God instructed Prophet Elijah to go to a widow in Zarepath who had been commanded to provide for him throughout the famine.
There seems to be a missing link because the widow in Zarepath did not know she was commanded to provide for the Prophet. She was in a desperate situation and was literally about to prepare her last meal and then die of starvation. How could she be commanded to provide for anyone else?
According to God’s plan, her breakthrough was dependent on her willingness to take the step of faith and provide for the Prophet. The widow’s prayer for help was being answered by what seemed to be another demand on her non-existent supply!
God made provision for her miracle by lining up an opportunity in her path
The widow’s response to the prophet and her willingness to meet his needs out of her lack triggered her breakthrough and she got the commanded blessing. She definitely had a valid excuse to ignore the Prophet and refuse to give, but she would have missed her divine connection.
God calls upon the greatness in you by sending you opportunities to grow in faith
The answer to our prayers might be disguised as more demands on an already stretched schedule, more work, pressure, or requests. We have a choice to be consumed by our circumstances or we could choose to reach out and meet the needs around us.
The widow surrendered her last meal to the prophet and her bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah.
Pay attention to the needs of others around you. Your blessing has been strategically positioned in your path – don’t miss it!
