AUTOPILOT

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

            Psalm 90:12

It is so easy to get distracted in our society today. So many urgent matters are pressing in on us and schedules are getting increasingly busy. Too many things to do in too little time. Sometimes, it feels like the bills are coming in faster than the paychecks…

The temptation is to run on autopilot when the days go by in a daze.

Circumstances do not control our lives, God does! We need to consciously put the brakes on pressure, and declare who is in charge. God is the source of life and He should be in charge of every area of our lives. We have the power to enjoy each day. Irrespective of the pressure, no matter how intense, we can choose to respond in a way that would please God. When those feet hit the floor in the morning, the temptation is to go-go-go, do this, do that, make that call, check that website, etc. The devil really tries to crowd our lives and edge God out. No more!

The more we need to accomplish, the more we need God.

Most people today are on autopilot, doing the barest minimum, just getting by, moving by rote through each day, saying ‘life happens’. Sometimes, it probably feels like nothing you do makes a difference, so why bother? That is a lie of the devil.

Do not live on autopilot, choose to live purposefully and make each day count.

There is a purpose for each day. Every single day you grow physically. In the same way, you can determine to grow each day in other areas of your life. You can determine to grow spiritually each day, to learn a little more about God each day. You can spend time each day investing in your future. Do something each day that takes you closer to the person you want to become. Invest today into your future.

Make each day count for you. Make each week count. Determine to let the devil record a weak week in your life!

It does not matter what season of life you are in, you can still make your days count for God. While in the wilderness, Moses prayed that the Lord would teach them to number their days that they may apply their hearts to wisdom. You can grow in wisdom every day, through every circumstance, through every season. You do not have to wait for a certain thing or a certain time to begin to live. Do not wait for that dream job – be faithful today in whatever your hand finds to do. Do not wait for your dream spouse – be consistent in developing yourself to be a dream spouse. Treasure today, it is a gift. Today is the present. Unwrap your present and rejoice!

Don’t wait for someone to do something for you; let today be the day that you do something for somebody.

The fact is that whether you invest today or waste it, it would pass – so, why not invest today and make it count towards tomorrow. Do not watch each day go by, frame today and make it count forever through the value you add to your life. Be intentional about your daily growth.

We could wait for something to happen or we could make something happen tomorrow by our actions today. Get over the inertia, let the power of the Holy Spirit quicken you to be God’s best for you each day. Invest each second of today to give tomorrow unparalleled momentum.

This is the time to arise.

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.”

Isaiah 60:1

“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.: Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires”.

2 Peter 1:3-4

God has given us everything we need to live a fulfilling life, and access to participate in the divine nature. We have been equipped and set up to be gods on earth.

Don’t wait for something to happen, you were designed to make something happen!

Enjoy His Lavish Grace,

    1. Absolutely. With the fast pace of everyday life, we all need constant reminders that the cumulative effect of our daily discipline is a transformed life.

  2. I am so glad you found this article Reni!!!
We need to be more intentional about living on purpose. It is so easy to coast along in life, but to fulfill purpose in 2015, we need to swim against the tides and make room for new!
