Each day I am faced with two options: I could let the activities of the day drive my action or I could find creative ways to move in the direction of my dreams while going about my daily business. Irrespective of the path I choose, one thing remains constant – the day will end.
I have found that it is so easy to postpone taking action today because there are always urgent matters to address and “later” should be a better time to start. However, the most important things in life are not always urgent and could easily end up on the back burner.
The time to act is now. When we wait to pursue our dreams, we are putting important things on the backburner. Things on the backburner are out of active consideration or development. Most times, the urgent takes precedence over the important and the backburner piles up with unfinished projects, draft songs, prototypes, incomplete designs and unfulfilled dreams.
How many important things have you placed on the backburner hoping for a more convenient time?
The backburner can be a blessing or a snare. It provides an opportunity to prioritize and selectively focus on one thing at a time, channeling resources for maximum return. However it becomes a snare when the dream that should be burning in your heart is sizzling on the back burner.
Stop postponing the fulfillment of the plan and purpose of God for your life. You need to activate the vision again and ignite your passion. It might be difficult but you need to keep pressing in. Each step gets you closer to the fulfillment of your dreams and the process strengthens you and prepares you for greater opportunities.
Do not allow the waves of each day to carry you in the direction of the circumstances around you. Make conscious effort each day and take steps in the direction of your dream. Each step will get you closer and things will become clearer as you begin to move.
“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” Proverbs 4:18
Get your dream off the backburner. Start moving and keep going.
When you feel weak – Remember that the Holy Spirit is your helper (John 14:26)
When you feel you cannot go on – Remember that you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength (Philippians 4:13)
When you feel overwhelmed – Remember that God gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless (Isaiah 40:29)
When you feel intimidated – Remember that greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world (1 John 4:4)
Reignite your passion for the dreams that God has given you! You were created for so much more!
