Why does the word of God produce result in some people’s life and does not seem to work in others?
God is not a respecter of persons, so it cannot be because God loves those people more. It is also a proven fact that the Word of God always works. So…what makes the difference? And most importantly, how can we unleash the power of the word of God?
The difference lies in what you and I do with the word of God that we hear
“For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.” James 1:23-24
I chuckle every time I read this passage of scripture, I picture looking at the mirror, seeing a big smudge of make-up on the wrong part of my face or a hair emergency and just walking out of the house and feeling cute all day – NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!
However that is what we often do spiritually. We hear the Word of God and simply move on without examining our lives and allowing the Word to work in us. Hearing the Word of God is great, Reading the word of God is great, but only doers of the word unleash the power in the Word of God.
“But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” James 1:25
To release the power of the word of God and be blessed in all you do, it is important to:
- Stay steady on the word of God. Do not read your bible only on special occasions or during difficult times. Be consistent. Study the word continually.
- Do not forget what you hear. Pay attention and make necessary changes- Do the word.
The word of God is a mirror; it should reflect who you are, if what you see does not look like you, keep studying and allowing the Holy Spirit to work in you.
“We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
Determine to spend quality time in the word of God this week and do what the word says.
