It is so easy to be thankful when things are going great. The springs of thankfulness flow freely when long awaited dreams are fulfilled, and when secret desires come to pass. When we receive unexpected good news – our praises abound.
However, we do not have to wait until something happens to be thankful. We can praise God right now, irrespective of the current circumstances.
There is so much more to be thankful for – every day is a blessing and the ordinary is a gift.
Praise God for where you are on the way to where you are going
When nothing out of the ordinary happens during the day, we describe such days as typical, uneventful or ordinary.
The ordinary days seem longer when we are waiting for something to happen – the job, the proposal, the house to sell, the contract to be awarded, etc. We wake up hoping this would be the day and then go to bed hoping “it” would happen tomorrow.
At other times, we can hardly wait to make that trip, get married, host/attend that event, give birth to that baby, etc. The days in between seem so long and boring in light of the great day ahead and we would gladly fast forward to that date (if we could).
… It seems the uneventful/ordinary days always get in the way of real life!
However the ordinary is a blessing.
Celebrate each day and do not despise the joy of the uneventful days.
Ordinary is a treasure.
“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Psalm 107:1
As we celebrate thanksgiving today, let us reflect on the goodness of God…
Let us count our blessings and take our eyes off our circumstances.
Let us thank God for the privilege of life and all the blessings we take for granted.
Let us make thanksgiving a lifestyle.
I am grateful to God for the “ordinary” days. What are you most thankful for?
Happy Thanksgiving!
